  Ross-Hill Academy grew out of an early childhood educational program that started in April of 1971 with one student, under the direction of Administrator Nellie Williams.  The program progressed and excelled to become among the highest rated programs in the city of Detroit, resulting in a waiting list.  Parental support and demand led to the initiation of grades one through six.  The child care center then took on a private school status as Williams Chapel Private School.

September 14, 1998 Ross-Hill opened its doors as a Public Charter School for grades K-7 with 202 students. Fifty percent of those students were the direct result of Williams Chapel School families. June 2008 Ross-Hill celebrated its first high school graduating class with a 100% graduation ratio.

Ross-Hill was organized and chartered to provide an excellent educational opportunity for families throughout the city of Detroit and southeast Michigan.  Each school year we strive to improve our dedication and commitment to provide exemplary education for all students here at our Academy.

The mission of Ross-Hill Academy is to provide each student with an excelled learning experience that will enable the student to:

  • Meet and progress upon the challenges of higher education, especially in the areas of math and science;
  • Function cooperatively in a social learning environment; and
  • Successfully contribute to their own "individuality" as an asset to society.

This is accomplished through a safe and "family cooperative" environment.

It is the vision of Ross-Hill Academy to be a major contributor among southeastern Michigan School districts, enhancing the technological advancements of the 21st century by offering the necessary foundation for our children.
